PUBLIC NOTICE


NOTICE is hereby given that on October 13, 2015; the Board of Fire Commissioners of the South Salem Fire District adopted the following resolution:

WHEREAS, on October 22, 1962, this Board duly passed a resolution establishing a capital reserve fund for the purchase of equipment, and
WHEREAS, said capital reserve fund is now in an amount of approximately $808,573.00; and
WHEREAS, this Board is desirous of purchasing a 1500 GPM Custom Pumper Truck at a cost of approximately $700,000.00 and of using a portion of said capital reserve fund for payment therefore; and
WHEREAS, said resolution of October 22, 1962, having been in general form, a resolution to use said capital reserve fund for such purpose is subject to a permissive referendum pursuant to Section 6-g(4) of the General Municipal Law, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that pursuant to subdivision 13 of Section 176 of the Town Law, this Board shall purchase a Pumper Truck to be constructed and equipped in accordance with specifications on file at the office of the Secretary of the Board of Fire Commissioners, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that said Pumper Truck be paid for by applying the present balance, so far as needed, of the Capital Reserve Fund established by said resolution of October 22, 1962, to purchase price thereof, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that pursuant to subdivision 4 of Section 6-g of the General Municipal Law, this resolution shall not be effective for thirty (30) days from its adoption, or until approval at a referendum, if during said thirty (30) days after adoption, a valid petition for a referendum on this resolution be duly filed with the Secretary of this Board.
NOTICE is also given that such resolution was adopted subject to a permissive referendum and will become effective in thirty (30) days from the date of its adoption unless within that time there be filed with the Secretary of the District at the Town House, South Salem, New York, a petition signed and acknowledged by resident taxpayers aggregating at least one-quarter of the assessed valuation of all taxable real property in said district as such valuations appear on the latest assessment roll of the Town of Lewisboro, protesting against such resolution and requesting that it be submitted to the qualified electors of the fire district for their approval or disapproval.
