Just before noon, South Salem firefighters were dispatched to a reported head-on motor vehicle accident on Route 35 at the intersection of Mark Mead Road. Chief DeVito, the first unit on location, confirmed the head-on collision and quickly requested an additional two ambulances to the scene. Rescue 21 arrived shortly after and firefighters assisted with patient care and vehicle stabilization. Once the most critical patients had been packaged, firefighters did a quick door removal to make it easier to remove the last patient. This was the first use of new EDraulic extrication tools recently put in service.

All units were clear and Route 35 was reopened in 45 minutes.
