Last night, the Department hosted its annual mutual aid tanker shuttle drill with the assistance of our neighbors including the Croton Falls Fire Department, the Bedford Fire Department, the Ridgefield Fire Department, the Goldens Bridge Fire Department and the Pound Ridge Fire Department.

The objective of this training is to not only demonstrate the importance of this skill, which is essential to rural water supply operations, but also to maintain great working relationships with our neighboring Departments.

Since there are no traditional fire hydrants within the South Salem Fire District and within many of our neighboring Districts, all water used for fire suppression must come from our tanker trucks which are supplied with water from our ponds, lakes and other waterways.

The evening culminated with a BBQ at the firehouse pavilion. The Department would like to extend a special thanks to all our neighboring Departments that assisted with this training as well as the Truesdale Estates Association and the Town of Lewisboro Parks and Recreation Department.
