| On Saturday, September 13th, members of the South Salem Fire Department and other area fire departments were invited to participate in a rare live fire training exercise in North Salem, NY. Hosted by the Croton Falls Fire Department and Run by Signal 73 Fire Training, members received training on search and rescue of victims, as well as fire attack while in controlled live fire environments. These training opportunities are vital for keeping our members trained in situational awareness, communication/coordination with other units on the fire ground while in blackout/smoke-filled, and high-heat conditions. A lot of work goes into making these acquired structure training drills a possibility, with countless hours put into planning and safety. We are very grateful to our mutual aid partners in Croton Falls for inviting us to train with them and to take part in such a vital training day.
