On Saturday, May 16, 2009 the South Salem Fire Department competed in the 2nd Annual J.I.M.M.Y. Muster held at Firemen's Field in Somers, NY. The muster involved teams from local volunteer fire departments as well as area Explorer Posts competing in firematic events such as tug-o-war, midnight alarm, bucket brigade and hose roll.

The combined South Salem/Goldens Bridge team got off to a slow start losing in the first round of tug-o-war to the Somers Fire Department. The team was able to redeem itself by scoring very well in the midnight alarm and then achieving second place in the hose roll competition. The South Salem/Goldens Bridge team continued its winning streak by scoring first place in the bucket brigade and winning "Best Overall" in the muster. South Salem's own Mini Attack 20, a 1967 Dodge Power Wagon, was also recognized for "Best Original Fire Apparatus."

The J.I.M.M.Y. Muster is a fundraising event benefiting the J.I.M.M.Y. (Just Imagine Making Miracles Yours) Fund which was founded in memory of James "Jimmyboy" Arena and raises money to help families in our area with children with life threatening disease and/or injuries.
