With the longer days and nicer weather comes parade and carnival season for the local fire departments and their towns. The season kicked off with South Salem's Memorial Day Celebration, marching in the parade and taking part in the service honoring Memorial Day. The Department even responded to a carbon monoxide alarm minutes before the parade stepped off, but they thankfully made it back in time for the ceremony. Members followed the town celebration with a barbecue back at the firehouse with their families.

The first big fireman's parade was this past Wednesday as the Department marched fourth in the first division at the Katonah parade. With a great turnout, members walked away with the "Best Dressed" award for the night. This was a great start to the season! Next up is the Bedford Fire Department Parade on Friday, July 24 at 7pm.

Members look forward to the community continuing to support the local parades, and especially look forward to seeing everyone along the South Salem parade route on Wednesday, August 5th. And as always, the carnival then follows the remainder of the week.

Be sure to check back here, as well as the Departments Facebook page, for event updates.
