Never Forget
Passing of Ex-Chief and Ex-President Robert A. Bowen Sr.

Robert Alan Bowen Sr (Bob) died Sunday morning January 24th with his daughter Margie at his side. He was 90.

Bob was born July 8, 1930 in NY, NY, the youngest of eight children to the late Frederick Seymour and Florence Agnes Bowen (nee Kelly). He grew up in Mount Kisco and New Rochelle. During World War II Bob was a Sea Cadet. In 1960 he moved his young family to South Salem, NY where Bob spent most of his adult life. Bob was a longstanding member of the South Salem Fire Department, during his tenure he proudly served as Chief, President and later on the Board of Commissioners.

Bob was a 70 year Member of United Association of Jouneymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry and was a Steamfitter for Local 21 for over 40 years, working at many local schools and healthcare systems in the area, including John Jay High School and Putnam Hospital.

A collector of WW II memorabilia, and a member of Military Vehicle Collectors Club, Bob traveled to Normandy for the 45th anniversary of the invasion with the Club. One of the trip’s highlights for Bob was an invitation to the French Embassy to dine with 100 Americans as the guest of King Michael of Romania. In addition to collecting memorabilia Bob had a passion for restoring vintage jeeps, including the restoration of a military jeep.

Bob was predeceased by his wife Patricia Kruckel Bowen, brothers Frederick Jr., Alfred, Jack and sisters Florence, Virginia, Rosemary and Patricia. Bob is survived by his four children; Robert Jr, Michael (Isabel), Margie (Jim) and Katie. Two grandchildren, Tara Rainstrom and Gary (Kahla) Rainstrom

Internment will be private with family, Bob final resting place will be in White Plains Rural Cemetery with his wife Patty, brother Fred, sister Virginia. and his parents.

A special heartfelt thank you to The Villa at Westhampton and each and everyone of the staff for the love, kindness and exemplary care given to Bob. The entire Bowen family will be forever grateful.
