Early Morning Smoke Showing
By Lieutenant Avery Scott
February 26, 2008
At 6:31 AM, the South Salem Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure for heavy smoke showing from the basement. The house was located near 4 Winds Hospital, right on the border with the Katonah Fire District.
Cars 2451, 2452 and 2453 responded and notified 60-Control that the house could possibly be in the Katonah Fire District. While responding, the units were updated that the smoke was possibly from a backfiring generator in the basement of the house.
Car 2452 arrived on scene first, followed shortly by 2451, 2453 and NY State Police. Having been to the same house before, it was determined that the smoke was caused by a faulty generator and all other responding South Salem units were returned to quarters.
All remaining units cleared at approximately 6:45 AM.
