Van Through One Pole, Into Another
By 2nd Assistant Chief Avery Scott
May 23, 2010
At approximately 9pm on Sunday, May 23rd, South Salem Firefighters were alerted to a motor vehicle accident, car vs. telephone pole. Cars 2451 and 2453 responded first and were advised of a van into a pole and smoking. Rescue 21 and Engine 167 responded shortly thereafter. Bedford Hills Car 2031, who was in the area, was on scene first and advised that all occupants were out of the vehicle. South Salem units arrived on scene and began securing the vehicle and setting up traffic control. The driver of the van lost control and went clean through one telephone pole before crashing into another. Luckily, he was able to walk away from the crash. South Salem provided traffic control until the van was able to be towed. All units were clear by 9:50pm.
