Burnt Dinner on a Tuesday Night
By Captain Avery Scott
May 20, 2008
At 6:09pm, while clearing a tree onto wires call, the South Salem Fire Department was alerted to a residential alarm at Hill Top Drive. Car 2451 arrived first and reported an extinguished stove top fire. E-168 arrived shortly after, followed by Car 2452 and E-167.
South Salem Firefighters removed the vent above the stove and used the thermal camera to check for extension. The cause of the fire was the result of a burnt diner. The homeowner was lucky and able to extinguish it prior to the fire departments arrival.
Calls like this serve as a reminder to all firefighters that you never know what residential/automatic alarms will turn into.
