Members Compete in J.I.M.M.Y Muster
By Captain Avery Scott
May 26, 2008
On Sunday, May 25th, members of the South Salem Fire Department participated in the 1st Annual J.I.M.M.Y Boy Muster in support of the J.I.M.M.Y Foundation. A muster is a series of firematic events that teams compete in. The events consisted of a tug-of-war, midnight alarm, hose roll and bucket brigade.
The South Salem team arrived at Fireman's field in Somers a little after 10am to register the team and the Dodge Power Wagon to be judged for best apparatus.
After the opening ceremonies, the events got underway. In the first event, the tug-of-war, South Salem won their first round match up, but then lost to Mahopac Falls FD. The midnight alarm, hose roll and bucket brigade were all timed events, which the South Salem team did well in.
Congratulations to all the teams that competed and Mahopac Falls for taking the top overall finish. The South Salem members did not go home empty handed however. The Dodge Power Wagon won for Best Original Apparatus.
We would like to thank the members of the J.I.M.M.Y Foundation for having us and putting on a great day. We look forward to next year.
