Afternoon Accident Slows Traffic on Rt. 35

Shortly before 4pm on Thursday, May 23, South Salem firefighters were alerted for a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Rt. 35 at Avery Rd.
Car 2452 arrived on scene first and gave an update of two cars involved with one occupant complaining of neck and back injuries. A good samaritan who had stopped, stated that he saw smoke coming from the engine compartment of one of the vehicles, so one crew from Rescue 21 went to work assessing and stabilizing the vehicle, while the other assisted the Medic and LVAC with patient packaging.
South Salem operated on scene for approximately 40 minutes.
