Multi-Vehicle Accident with STAT Flight at Town Park

Friday, July 25th was a quiet sunny morning, until South Salem personnel were alerted to a motor vehicle accident with extrication in front of the Lewisboro town park. Deputy Chief Beck (2450) arrived on scene in minutes and confirmed a three-car accident with possible extrication of one of the drivers. STAT Flight was requested due to the seriousness of injuries sustained to one of the victims. The accident involved two mini vans and a small sedan.
Rescue 21 and Engine 167 arrived and South Salem Firefighters, along with LVAC were able to free the victim without having to remove the car door.
Car 2541 arrived and assumed command, sending Engine 168 to set up a landing zone for STAT Flight on the baseball field, at the town park. A total of four patients were transported, 1 by STAT Flight and 3 by ambulance.
The NY State Police accident reconstruction team was called in to investigate the accident. They are called in when a crash victim's life is in serious jeopardy.
South Salem Firefighters and the South Salem Fire Police shut down part of Rt. 35 so the police could conduct their investigation. Traffic was diverted for approx. four hours and all South Salem personnel cleared at 2:30pm.

*Update* At the time of posting, the injuries to the one driver seem not to be life threatening as originally thought. We wish her a safe and speedy recovery.
