On Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 10:38am, South Salem Firefighters, along with the Vista Fire Department on dual dispatch, were dispatched by 60-Control to a reported chimney fire on Boutonville Road. Within minutes of responding, Car 2452 arrived on scene and transmitted a 10-75 (working fire) for a two story wood frame residence with fire showing through the roof. Engine 166 and Tanker 2 arrived on scene minutes after and a hand line was stretched to the upstairs bedroom of the residence. A water source was established by Engine 167 along with a portable pond being deployed in the event additional water was needed at the scene.
Through the quick work of the first arriving crews, the fire was contained to the room of origin and quickly extinguished, all mutual aid was released shortly after 1:00pm.
