Open House
By Captain Avery Scott
October 11, 2008
On Saturday, October 11th, the South Salem Fire Department held its annual Open House. Members arrived early for breakfast and set up. We were lucky to have a beautiful day.
Almost as soon as the members were done setting up the first visitors started trickling in. South Salem Firefighters showed off the trucks and went over equipment and operations with our guests. Tours of the firehouse were given and fire prevention information was handed out. Everyone who came was encouraged to sit and enjoy some free hot dogs, drink and other food.
South Salem Firefighters also performed extrication demonstrations. As firefighters worked removing doors and roofs, the crowd was told how the tools worked and what they were used for. After, everyone was given an up close look at the hydraulic spreaders and cutters.
We would like to thank all those that attended. We hope you had a good time and hope to see you next year.
Also a special thank you to the members that attended and helped make the Open House a great time.
