In House Mask Confidence Drill
By SSFD
February 4, 2009
South Salem firefighters drill every Monday night. A recent training session consisted of a mask confidence course set up it the bays of the firehouse. The officers showed up early, setting up obstacles and preparing tasks to be completed throughout the course. With their face pieces "blacked out" members were required to find the correct end of a hose and attach a nozzle, navigate tight spaces, assemble a SCBA and locate and drag the rescue dummy to the end of the course. A successful drill, as it consisted of real life scenarios that could be faced on any call.
