Department Training
By Captain Avery Scott
July 23, 2009
Every Monday night, South Salem Firefighters gather at the firehouse for a weekly department drill. The drill tonight was a course that was set up to simulate some of the tasks a Firefighter would have to perform at a fire.
Those tasks included:
Donning gear and an air pack
Pulling hose
Carrying saws
Raising a ladder
Crawling through a confined space
Dragging the Rescue Dummy
Each Firefighter went through the course as well as the Junior Firefighters.
