By Firefighter John Casavant
January 26, 2010
At approx. 3am this morning, Tanker 2 was requested to Katonah for a working structure fire. Car 2451 (Chief Posadas) and Tanker 2 responded to the Deer Park Tavern to assist with water supply. Due to the fire being located in a non-hydrant area, numerous tankers from around the county were called to help.
Upon arrival, Car 2541 was put in charge of Water Ops. 2451 and Tanker 2 remained on scene for roughly 3 hours as firefighters from 10 departments fought the blaze.
At 915am, Tanker 2 was requested back to the scene to supply water while the building was torn down and hot spots were extinguished.

Deer Park Tavern Fire 1-26-10. No hydrants were nearby, so firefighters trucked in water from a pond and hydrants in Katonah and filled portable pools. Engines then fed the water to the hoses used in dousing the flames. (Photos by Frank Becerra Jr./The Journal News)
