MVA Brings Evening Rush To A Crawl
By 2nd Assistant Chief Avery Scott
May 5, 2010
On Wednesday, May 5th, right at the height of the evening rush, South Salem Firefighters were alerted to an MVA with injuries at Route 35 and Spring Street. Car 2451 responded first and requested information as to which location on Route 35 and Spring Street (as there are 4 different areas where the 2 intersect). As Car 2451 proceeded west on Route 35, 2453 (A. Scott) and R-21 went east. The accident was finally located on Route 35 just east of Ridgefield Avenue. South Salem Firefighters quickly went to work mitigating the spilled fluids and securing the two vehicles. While there were no serious injuries, due to the time and location of the accident, traffic was backed up for almost a mile in each direction. Crews from E-167 and U-79 provided traffic control until the two vehicles could be removed.
