GOLDENS BRIDGE — A homeowner's cry for help when her porch caught fire couldn't have fallen on better ears. The neighbor who heard her shout, Avery Scott, happens to be the second assistant chief at the South Salem Fire Department.
"He heard her shout 'fire' and he put it out with a dry chemical extinguisher," said Goldens Bridge Fire Chief Walter Hughes.
Goldens Bridge firefighters responded to the home on Fairmount Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday to find the fire out.
The homeowner was treated at a hospital for an unspecified injury, Hughes said.
The cause of the fire was not available. |
