Moving Water With Vista
By 2nd Assistant Chief Avery Scott
May 18, 2010
For our weekly department drill, South Salem Firefighters teamed up with our neighbors from the Vista Fire Department, to move some water at the Lewisboro Town Park. The objectives of the drill were to establish a water supply and flow 250 gallons of water per minute within five minutes.
E-168 layed out its 5 inch hose and established a water supply at the dry hydrant. Tanker 2 simultaneously hooked up to E-167 and deployed its portable pond. Tanker 4 supplied its portable pond and dumped its water. Once empty, Tanker 4 was refilled by E-168 and proceeded back to the dump site.
While the water shuttle was taking place, some of our newer members and probationary members practiced their skills on hose-line advancement.
South Salem Fire Police provided traffic control.
A big thank you to our brothers at Vista for your help, especially Asst. Chief Kelly and Lt. Cruz.
